MERGE – RAW ADELAIDE EXHIBITION

Date: 16th October 2015

Venue: The Producers Bar, Adelaide

I always wanted to do a RAW Adelaide exhibition, as I really love what they do for the local arts community, especially for emerging artists. Plus, there is always art + beer, so who could really complain? For this exhibition, I wanted to focus on pattern work, mainly inspired by the Alphonse Mucha variety. I am a MASSIVE Mucha fan, so I wanted to create my ode to his work, but also add a bit of my own sparkle. My main aim for this work was to explore my own idea of beauty, and try to ignore anything that society tells me about that concept. For me, femininity, bright colours and intricate floral patterns make up my idea of beauty and radiance, so that is what I have tried to capture.

I also featured the first printed version of my ongoing Instagram exhibition, @paperscroll. I liked the way they looked but I am still unsure if they belong in the printed world…

Thanks to RAW Adelaide for having me 🙂
